CEMS uses B.O.M. (Bill Of Materials) Manager software that processes data at the front end of the printed circuit board (PCB) assembly process. This software imports, parses, analyzes, and archives BOMs and approved vendor lists under electronic revision control. This software eliminates the arduous tasks of manually cleaning, and controlling BOMs, processes that virtually halt new product introduction until completed.
Our system imports customer BOM data from a variety of sources, such as collimated ASCII files, CIM project files, Microsoft Excel® spreadsheets and ODBC databases, and operates on Access® or SQL Server® to provide enterprise-wide PCB information control.
This system assists contractors in developing a single internal part number database correlated against thousands of customer part number databases. Once received, our system maps customer part numbers to the assembler's equivalent numbers using intelligent description field matching. We provide the operator with a list of possible matches based on content of the description fields. Possible matches are ranked by degree of probability, and then operators can select and confirm the correct component. The task of bringing customer part numbers into the factory is highly efficient and reliable.
CEMS system can also supply array of useful reports for least-cost analysis, BOM version comparisons, BOM listing, CAD/BOM analysis, vendor lists, and manufacturer lists.
This becomes an especially powerful tool when combined with computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) software, providing document control and BOM/CAD comparisons.
